Rogue If You Want To, Rogue Around the World
Rogue is one of DCist’s favorite breweries. Growing up in the part of the country where Rogue is brewed, taking jet boat rides in the brew’s namesake river, and searching for agates along the beach where the river meets the Pacific endears the beer to this DCist even more. This is why we’re psyched to learn that Tallula is pairing six of the Oregon beers with some incredible food on Monday the 19th. For $75, including tax and tip, you’ll get to partake in courses like seared foie gras, “baby” fried egg sandwich, hazelnut brittle and Rogue’s Hazelnut Nectar. They’re even pairing the Imperial Stout with a cigar. Good show. It seems worth the money to us, and looks like a great gift for the beer lovers in your lives. Check out Tallula’s web site for more information.

To All D.C. Dining Staff: Brace Yourselves
Can you hear the Jaws music? Is the phone ringing off the hook at the hostess stand? Is the OpenTable list of reservations multiplying exponentially? Maybe not yet, but very soon. That’s right, Restaurant Week — a weeklong orgy of epicurean excess — is right around the corner, slated for January 6 through 15. You can read DCist reader RW comments and advice in this thread from last summer.

Never heard of Restaurant Week? Did you just move here from Provo? It’s one of the best deals around: a week (plus one weekend) when dozens of D.C.’s best restaurants provide three-course menus for $20.06 at lunch and $30.06 at dinner. It’s also a nightmare for the restaurant staff, who must seat, cook, serve and bus places filled to the gills for ten days straight. Also, there are rumors of some diners who are, well, less than considerate to some of their hostesses and servers. This has prompted considerable backlash from the wait staff, or, as we call them, foodtainment specialists.

We’ll have a list of restaurants for you soon, so be on the lookout and get your reservation fingers ready.
