Dine Out for Life
No, that’s not an inducement to enter a sweepstakes for a lifetime supply of dinner at Chili’s. It is, however, an opportunity for you to hit some good restaurants for a good cause. Dining Out for Life is sponsoring its annual charity event for Food & Friends, the local organization that prepares meals and groceries for local people suffering from devastating illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer. Food and Friends does this for free for over 1,000 households in the Metro area, giving people one less thing to worry about and one more friend to visit.
Dining Out for Life makes it easy on you to help out. All you have to do is eat at one of the participating Restaurants on Thursday, March 9, and the eatery will donate at least 25 percent of its sales (but we recommend you go for those donating 50% or 100%). If anything, this is the night to go for appetizer, entrée, dessert, cheese course, and wine since it’s for a good cause. Tell that to your personal trainer. There’s also a chance to win two tickets on American Airlines of a $1,000 gift certificate to Crate and Barrel, so you could even come out ahead on the deal.
If you can’t be around on the 9th, please consider donating to Food and Friends directly. If you feel like giving a little more than dinero, you can also volunteer to help with the events. The organization makes it feel like a big dinner party, and I’m sure they’d love for you to put together a big group. Maybe you can all wear DCist gear.
