Remember season one of Project Runway (fashion-speak translation: SO last season)? You know, back when the show was a guilty pleasure and way before you developed a doomed, unrequited crush on Daniel Vosovic?
Surely you haven’t forgotten season one finalist Wendy Pepper, the “Mom from Virginia” designer and arch nemesis of fellow finalists Kara Saun and Jay McCarroll. She was the one who — whether because of reality TV necessity or her actual personality traits — the show’s producers decided we as viewers were supposed to despise. But can she really be that nasty? You can find out tonight, when the Middleburg resident and D.C. native will show her collection for the first time since the Project Runway finale. It’ll take place at “A Cure by Design,” an event that will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation‘s Capitol Chapter.
The event begins at 7 pm at Design Within Reach (1838 Columbia Road NW), but for the fashionably late, the actual show should begin around 8 pm. There is a suggested $25 donation, and reservations are recommended but not required. Contact Rachel Cothran of JDRF Capitol at 202-465-4118 if you’re interested in attending. You can also enter a drawing to win a piece of “Wendy Pepper Couture.” You know you’re tired of watching reruns, anyway.
