A night of highs and lows for the latest West Wing. The episode picks up where we left off last week, with Josh and Donna rushing to the hospital to check on Leo. Annabeth meets them and tearfully (what’s up with her raccoon eyes?) tells them Leo died. It’s sad sad sad. Josh is pretty stricken with the news. Later, C.J. has to tell President Bartlett, and it’s equally moving. While the scenes were well done, I can’t help but wish that Aaron Sorkin had been around to write Leo’s death.

Soon, word of the VP’s death gets around causing both the Santos and Vinick campaigns to get crazier. After another quick visit with the Foo Fighters, Santos gives a short speech about Leo’s death. Josh spends some quiet time in Leo’s room, being sad. Donna comes in too talk to him, and it’s sweet. In the end, Santos wins the Presidential election by a nose and Vinick decides not to contest with a legal challenge, which the viewers thank him for. Josh says a quiet “thanks boss” to a picture of Leo, and we fade out. Next week: Sam returns!
