For the Washington Wizards, it’s “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” With an injured Caron Butler, the Wizards have lost four in a row going into tonight’s game against Chicago, who are fighting for their own playoff lives. The fifth seed, which only a week ago looked like a sure thing, is no longer guaranteed. The team is banged up, but that’s no excuse at this time of year. As of now, the Wiz have a one game lead on Milwaukee and Indiana and a two game lead on Chicago. So tonight’s game and next Wednesday’s tilt at home against the Bucks will go along way in settling the playoff seeding in the Eastern Conference.

As a few commenters noted in today’s Morning Roundup, Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season last night in a 5-3 loss to Atlanta, becoming just the second NHL rookie with 50 goals and 100 points. Caps fans, however, should be more excited about Ovechkin’s comments after the game. “I’m happy I score 50 goals, but I’m disappointed we lose the game,” Ovechkin told the Post, putting the team first.
