Over the weekend, the Washington Wizards fell victim to that old saying “be careful what you wish for.” After barely holding off most of the Central Division for the fifth seed and a matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers (whom the Wizards beat 3 out of 4 times during the regular season), they had a front row seat for the playoff coronation of King James. The 21-year-old LeBron James, already an MVP candidate in his third season, messed around and dropped a triple double on the Wiz with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, becoming just the third player in NBA history to record a triple double in their first ever playoff game. The resulting loss for the Wizards puts them down 1-0 in the series with little time to regroup before Game Two tomorrow night in Cleveland. If that’s enough to make you cry, you can always go check out the Wizznutzz Game One recap for a laugh.

The news for DC United this weekend wasn’t so much their 4-1 win over rival Red Bull New York or their undefeated record. Instead it was the actions of Alecko Eskandarian. After scoring the first of his two goals, Eskandarian raced over to the D.C. sideline, had a teammate toss him a can of Red Bull, took a big swig and promptly spit it out on the turf. Somewhere Chad Johnson is taking notes. We missed the whole thing, but The DCenters have the video and commentary.

Lastly, LaVarr Arrington finally decided where he will play next year, signing a seven-year, $49 million contract with the New York Giants. By staying the NFC East, he has the potential to come back to haunt the Gibbskins twice a year for the forseeable future, assuming his knee holds up and he can record more than one sack in the next two years.
