Can someone tell me why we’re watching an episode that’s almost all filler when there are only two more episodes left in the entire series? This week President-Elect Santos waffles mightily over picking cabinet members and the little missus negotiates the politics of moving into the White House. As the Santoses prepare for the move to Washington, Mrs. Santos is nicely overwhelmed by all the changes facing the family, from more security to multiple maids at her disposal.

The family gets briefed on their security detail (by our favorite Secret Service agent Ron Butterfield) and then must decide where to send the kids to school. After looking at a handful of “cold” private schools, the Santoses decide to send the little ones to a diverse D.C. public school so they don’t become spoiled little monsters. Mrs. Santos, by the way, seems really low maintenance — it’s very endearing. Also taking care of some transitional business, Matt Santos decides to offer the VP slot to Baker and asks Vinick to be his Secretary of State. Vinick says no to the offer at first, but then, after listening to his advisers, reconsiders and accepts the offer.

Anyway. I think this episode is supposed to show us that the White House is in good hands, but whatever. There’s no Sam, no Josh, no Donna, no President Bartlet, no Charlie, no Toby and very little CJ, but we did get tons of screen time for annoying Amy. Two episodes left, fans! Any thoughts on how the old story lines will be wrapped up?
