Good morning, D.C. Looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day. We can’t resist — we’re ducking out of work, heading into the lovely weather and spending the morning at a net neutrality seminar. Ah, summer livin’.

Ehrlich Unhappy With Rate Relief Plan: Remember the looming electricity rate hike crisis in Maryland? The one that’s been looming since March? Yeah, that one. It’s still not over. According to the Post, Maryland legislators have put together a plan to alleviate the rate increases, which could be as high as 72 percent for some customers. The plan calls for rate caps, energy-buying reforms and the dismissal of the state’s utility regulators. It’s the last measure that Governor Ehrlich is unhappy with, but he has said he won’t veto the bill. He is calling for a public meeting about it, however — we’d be surprised if this is the last we hear about it.

Report on Rosenbaum Murder Arrives: WTOP brings early word of the District’s Inspector General’s report on the robbery-turned-murder of New York Times reporter David Rosenbaum, and emergency service failures that ultimately contributed to his death. The bottom line? Errors made by police and health care professionals, combined with “an impaired work ethic that must be addressed before it becomes pervasive,” produced the tragic outcome. As worthwhile as this investigation seems to be, we think it’s also noteworthy that it took a reporter’s death to cause the media attention that prompted it.

This Day In DCist: One year ago we were talking about the inevitability of flip-flops, covered an upstart bocce league, and interviewed The Alphabetical Order.
