They’ll Kick You Out If You Give Butterstick an IPA
Normally, the Feed saves its activity-related post for “after the jump,” but given the popularity of last year’s event, as well as the sheer number of great brews available, we’re bumping this one up to front-page status.

Tickets are on sale now for the Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) 2nd annual Brew at the Zoo mixer/fundraiser/drunkfest. For $60, or $45 if you’re a member, you’ll get an open tab to taste beers from more than 20 microbreweries, and food from several area restaurants. With beers from places such as Dogfish Head, Clipper City, Ommegang, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Flying Dog, and Rogue; and food from the likes of Bar Pilar, Java Green, and Cabot Creamery, you’re sure to find your $60 well spent.

The Zoo gives you from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 24 to taste you way through the hop-laden heaven set up on Lion and Tiger Hill on the zoo grounds, so show up on time. DCist wants you on your best behavior though, so no throwing bottles to the river otters, and no tempting the snakes with samples of cheese. You can, however, throw the polo-horse tattoo guy into the lion den.

Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster, and you can find full information on the FONZ website.

Derek Brown Opts to Just Walk Up The Street
Two weeks back, we told you about Derek Brown’s imminent departure from his post as Agraria’s sommelier and restaurant manager. Well, the news has finally come out where he’ll land, and it’s just up the hill. Mr. Brown will soon join Citronelle as its Assistant Maitre D’ and Assistant Sommelier. Studying under Mark Slater’s tutelage is certainly an opportunity, and DCist congratulates both Citronelle and Derek on fine choices. I will point out that I pointed you in this direction a couple of weeks ago with the whole “lemons/lemonade” line. Get it? Lemons, Citronelle? The Weekly Feed is the new DaVinci Code.
