Is it too early to be thinking about the fall TV season? Well, the FOX network says no and we agree. So what if it’s not even Labor Day yet? FOX officially kicks off their new season tonight with the season premiere of Prison Break at 8 p.m., and the series premiere of the new, D.C.-based show Vanished at 9 p.m. And, we gotta say, it’s not a moment to soon.
Vanished revolves around the disappearance of a Senator’s wife, and, of course, the vast government conspiracy that seems to be behind it. The show stars a string of TV B-listers including Gale Harold (Queer as Folk), Ming-Na (ER) and Rebecca Gayheart, (the girl from that really old Noxzema commercial, and 90210). As with any new show set in the District, we look forward to yet another chance to play “spot that geographical impossibility,” as L.A.-based TV writers have a tendency to have their characters exit a building on L St. NW, walk down an alley, and emerge on Independence Ave. SW.
Prison Break picks up where it left off last season, with a bunch of attractive ex-cons on the lam from a bum murder wrap. FOX may be out to prove that you can never have too many shows about government conspiracies, because from what we were able to garner last season, the evil mastermind at the heart of this plot might be the Vice President of the United States. Regardless, we’ll be watching for Wentworth Miller (see photo above) and his tattooed torso anyway.
The dearth of prime time viewing options this summer forced us out and away from our TV sets, but luckily our DVRs are going to be comfortably full of viewing options in the next few weeks. We’ll keep you updated on what new shows are premiering, when our old favorites will be back and what nights you can outright skip. Until then, let us know what you’re planning on watching.
