Fresh off of their victory Wednesday night over the New York Red Bulls, MLS leading DC United hope to continue their winning ways Saturday night when they host the LA Galaxy. While the Galaxy’s 7-11-5 record may not sound too enticing there are plenty of subplots in Saturday’s game that bear watching.
Recently departed Santino Quaranta, traded from DC to LA for a future draft pick, will be making his return to RFK. He’s found the back of the net twice for the Galaxy since changing adresses to the West Coast. As a few commenters noted yesterday, tomorrow night’s game will give you the chance to let Landon Donovan know how you feel about his performance in this summer’s World Cup. Cobi Jones will likely suffer a similar fate at the hands of the Barra Brava.
United coach Peter Nowak decided to rest some of his usual starters on Wednesday, but if his comments in the post game press conference were any indication, the team should be back to full strength this weekend. Freddy Adu and Christian Gomez, both held out of Wednesday’s game with minor injuries, should return to the lineup. Ben Olson and Jaime Moreno also figure to get more burn than the 30 or so minutes they saw versus New York.
