We can hardly believe it’s been two whole years since DCist first began. Seems like it was just yesterday that Big Media Mike Grass was tantilizing us all with the possibility of Jessica Cutler’s bare breast in honor of our official launch. Sigh. The innocence of youth — those were indeed the days.

So, what have we learned in our two years of life? To begin with, we’ve finally been potty trained, and now know how to go to the bathroom all by ourselves, just like the big boys do. We learned that playing nice with other kids, even those who are different from us, is something we should try harder to do, and that secrets don’t make friends. We also started eating solid food and shared with the rest of the class how to make it, resisted the urge to say we told you so, and finally figured out a way to make sure we got home before bedtime.

As you can see, we have a lot to celebrate, and we can’t think of a better way than with a 4th installment of our popular, ongoing concert series, Unbuckled. Next Thursday, September 14, at DC9, we’ll be bringing you one of the hardest working local bands out there, Middle Distance Runner, along with up-and-coming youngsters The Vita Ruins and of course, your favorite blogging DJs from Bluestate. $8 gets you in the door, and we’ll be coming back over the next week with updates about other birthday-related specialness planned for the concert. We hope to see you there, and in the meantime, we’d love to hear about which have been your favorite DCist posts in the comments.
