FRIDAY:

>> We’d be remiss if we didn’t note that tonight will be the last time that Kathryn of Kathryn On will host one of her famous Blogger Happy Hours. It starts at 7 p.m. at Lucky Bar. Fans of the regular happy hour shouldn’t fear, however, as Kathryn says she has “a couple of fledgling social chairs waiting in the wings.” Thanks for all the hard work you’ve put in, Kathryn, to making the DC blogging community that much more fun and alcohol-infused. We salute you.

>> We’ve always hearted Rainer Maria, even if they don’t get as much love for their dogged dedication to the emo aesthetic as they used to. The always excellent Mary Timony Band opens the show at Black Cat. 9:30 p.m., $12

SATURDAY:

>> Stop by Supercade‘s CD release party at the Velvet Lounge, where they’ll be giving away their new album, A Drawn Out Turn Down, free at the show. Hello Tokyo and The Sentiment open up. 9 p.m.

>> No doubt plenty of cool kids will also be over at The Gossip show at Black Cat. With Erase Errata, Los Angeles’ Mika Miko, and UV Protection. $12, 9:30 p.m.

>> We really wish we were going to see our generation’s appointed cultural hero, Jon Stewart, do his comedy thing at Merriweather Post Pavillion, but we decided to buy groceries instead of plopping down $75 for a seat. Those of you who did pony up the cash — good for you. We guess Jon’s gotta eat too.

>> If the weather cooperates, the annual Arts on Foot festival happening downtown is always a good bet. Check out their detailed web site for all the info you’ll need.

SUNDAY:

>> Consider trying to get a seat at the Best of DC Shorts screening at 7 p.m., over at the Landmark E Street Cinema. It’s a predictable way to enjoy the film festival’s finest, and hopefully avoid any lemons.
