If you do, or just enjoy hearing them, you may want to attend the Roast of Anthony Williams on October 18th at the Marriott Wardman Park. The event is part of a Southeastern University gala, and for the low price of $250, will feature jokesters like Adrian Fenty, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Councilmembers David Catania and Jack Evans, GWU President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and Broadway actor and D.C. native Jeffrey Wright. We were hoping maybe a few more well-known D.C. native comedians would be invited, like Dave Chappelle, Tommy Davidson, or Coach Janky Spanky. Alas.
The press release promises “good natured fun,” which is too bad, as we were hoping for some crack cocaine jokes or at least a Mark Foley reference or two. We’d also like to hear some jokes about Logan Circle parking, “niggardly” finances or Linda Cropp’s baseball wackiness. And there’s always Eleanor Holmes Norton’s appearance on the Colbert Report. In fact, we kind of hope the mayor’s roast turns out like Colbert’s performance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner — sometimes funny, sometimes awkward, and somebody gets mad in the end.
So readers, here’s your chance to tell some more good jokes at the Mayor’s expense. We know you’ve got them.
