And a Mercedes.

And another good morning to you, D.C. Looks like it’s going to be a fine, bright, sunny day in the city, with temperatures in the lower to mid 50s. But don’t let our cheery outlook force you into being in a good mood too, especially if you were one of the unfortunate souls stuck in the 24-mile backup on the Outer Loop of the Beltway last night. Seriously, haven’t we all already learned that slowing down to stare at minor car accidents is not terribly helpful?

Minor Injuries for Gallaudet Protestors: A few student protestors at Gallaudet University suffered minor injuries yesterday after the school attempted to physically remove the demonstrator’s camping equipment from one of the school’s entrances. Students are complaining about other rough treatment dished out by school officials, and tensions are mounting about whether this continuing protest will continue to be peaceful.

Fenty Visits California Mayors: After visiting with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg earlier this month, presumed D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty is in California this week meeting with the mayors of Los Angeles and San Francisco. When meeting with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, schools was once again a main topic, though the two men also discussed homeland security and “leadership” — something a man who lost his first bid for mayor to a stuffed shirt like James Hahn was no doubt forced to learn. Will Fenty discuss helping the homeless with Gavin Newsom in San Francisco? Stay tuned.

Briefly Noted: Steele and Cardin make each other look stupid in televised debate … Student and school principal arrested for fighting … Metro gets new emergency carts … D.C. Schools staffer placed on leave.

This Day in DCist: In 2005 we learned that not even Nicole Kidman can ride Metro for free, and in 2004 we were primed to cover the upcoming election.
