We don’t want to give the impression that we’re always picking on tourists. But, much like kids, sometimes they say they darndest things. Unfortunately, our predisposition towards finding them impossibly cute (and vital to the economic viability of the city, of course!) might make us inclined to assume that certain quotes come from those unfamiliar with D.C. But how many of us have occasionally found ourselves lost in our own city? Or asked a question we later realized was really stupid? So this week we’re going to assume that the quote of the week comes from a local. Maybe a Georgetown student who never left campus in four years? A Congressional staffer too overworked to explore the city? George W. Bush? We’re open to suggestions.
Quote of the Week
Just south of Dupont Circle on Connecticut Avenue:
Passenger in car leans out window, points to Dupont Circle and asks a pedestrian: “Is that the zoo?”
After the jump, contemplating gender reassignment in the bathroom line, flawed dating strategies, and revisionist French history.
Overheard is anonymous and fun — just like AA, but without the free juice and cookies. So join the party and send what you hear to us at overheardindc (at) gmail (dot) com.
