Sigh. The most wonderful time of the year, Halloween, is over. How’s your candy haul, D.C.? It’s going to be another warm day, with highs reaching the low 70s. So that makes us feel a little better. What else makes us feel good, you ask? This story, from our sister site Seattlest.

BWI Improvements Finally Done: About five years, $1.4 billion dollars, and countless moments of inconvenience with roped-off corridors and orange cones later, BWI airport terminal improvements are now completed. As the Post reports, the airport has 700 daily flights and handled 19.75 million passengers last year, and this year the number of passengers is up 5.5 percent. We’re just really glad to hear that we won’t have to dodge any more construction equipment while there. Though it sounds like they haven’t necessarily made it possible to find something fit for human consumption to eat or drink in the America West terminal. Anyone been there in the last couple of days? Let us know what you think.

Suspicious Package Found near White House
Sometimes it seems that two weeks can’t go by without a suspicious something-of-other being found somewhere in this city. To that effect, ABC 7 reports that Tuesday night a man falsely claiming to have an explosive device was arrested outside the Treasury Department. The package was deemed safe, and the suspect whisked away for questioning, though not before routine security measures were put in place which jacked up traffic all around the area, including the White House, until close to midnight.

Fenty Campaign Rolling in Dough: WTOP looks into why Democratic Mayoral nominee, and presumptive winner of the general election, Adrian Fenty, has been getting so many big dollar contributions since the primary. Having now raised a total of $3.5 million, the story credits both “job seekers” and businesses and organizations seeking to take out “insurance” against possibly being seen negatively by the new administration. The story also predicts that the campaign won’t be able to spend nearly $1 million of its total funds, which could end up in a constituent services fund. Aren’t politics grand?

This Day in DCist: In 2005, we said bye bye to the Mayor’s blog. In 2004, it was all about folks fainting on Metrorail; yipes.
