If you’re from D.C., like me, the one great thing about the holidays is that you never have to travel, and all your old friends come to you for a week or two, and that week or two turn into dozens of debaucherous, memory-filled nights, telling stories about the times you used to hang out at Amphora Diner in Vienna (anyone else? Anyone?). Unfortunately, I had one of those nights last night, so you’re getting the morning roundup quick-hit-style. Happy boozy holidays!
>> Local federal workers to get a 2.64 percent raise
>> Vincent Gray announced his appointments to council committees. Graham, for example, will head the Committee on Public Works, as well as the Metro Board.
>> The Herndon day laborer center, often the site of much controversy, celebrated a one-year anniversary.
>> Awesome. Turkey deep-frying? Totally going on in the offices of DULLES AIRPORT near the control tower. Safety, schmafety.
>> Used to be that the worst thing that could happen to you at recess was skinning your knee or getting made fun of. But at a playground on Hamilton St. in Northwest, a teen was shot.
>> Murder on the beltway? A construction worker says that he saw someone throwing a body from a car on the beltway in Prince George’s County.
