If this week in Washington has taught us one thing, it’s that children and adult themes just do not mix. But before we get to another debate on whether or not it’s appropriate to bring your toddler to Coyote Ugly, maybe we should take a long hard look at another societal corrosive: vague comedic sexual innuendo. We see it all the time, yet we do nothing. We believe that the subtext in Jack‘s good-natured sexual harassment of Janet & Chrissy will go right over the innocent heads of our 15-year-olds. But eventually they’ll ask why Captain Oveur wants to know if little Joey likes movies about gladiators, and if we’re not there to explain it, they’ll pick it up on the streets. Or at an all-ages show.
Quote of the Week
At the GWU TGIFridays:
Mother eating dinner with her very hyperactive 12-year-old son:
Son: “Mom, what does dropping the soap mean?”
Mother: “Where have you heard that before?”
Son: “…movies…”
Mother: “Were they movies about prison?”
After the jump, the artist’s wardrobe, and a matter of life and lip gloss.
You’ll find the content is a little light after the jump. We refuse to take responsibility, though. Fill up our sad and lonely mailbox and send your quotes to overheardindc (at) gmail (dot) com.
