>> Mark this day, D.C. It took a full 37 days for us to use the “Marion Barry in trouble with the law again” keystroke in 2007. Federal prosecutors are asking that the Councilman’s probation in his tax-evasion case be revoked. They say Barry has failed to meet the terms of his plea agreement by not paying back taxes and not filing again in 2005. After being convicted on federal charges of not paying taxes between 1999 and 2004, is it really that easy for 2005 to slip your mind? It’s unclear how much jail time Barry could face and what that would mean for his position as Ward 8 Councilman. [Washington Post]
>> Those of you who are getting ready to mourn the lost of Kelly’s Irish Times can cheer the hell up. DCist checked in with the folks at 14 F. St. NW and they said the rumor emanating from the D.C. Kickball circles that someone got carjacked in front of the bar, and that the bar was closing on Wednesday was complete B.S. “We’ve been here for 30 years,” Irish Times said, ” and we’re going to be here for another 30.” “Do you know how to get a hold of the people who post on the Internet?” they added. No, Irish Times. No we don’t.
>> Cafe Scientifique, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, is doing their February event this evening, entitled “The Science of Breast Cancer: Making it Personal.” It’s a talk delivered by cancer researchers Robert Clarke and Minetta Liu from the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. Being held at The Front Page in Arlington (4201 Wilson Blvd), light hors d’oeuvres will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m., with the talk and Q and A running until to 8 p.m.
>> Wake up this morning with your plan B guy realising you forgot to use a condom and you’ve already forgotten his name? Well, the CVS on 15th and K Streets can help you with half that problem. They now proudly offer the Plan B emergency contraceptive pill over the counter. [Metroblogging DC]
>> Finally, something useful on the internets. One area blogger made a short call and got their Comcast bill reduced in under a minute. We wonder if a similar plea for a year’s worth of Spice would be as successful. [Life Outtacontext]
