You’ll forgive us, we hope, if when we first saw this headline, we let out an exasperated “not again!” But it wasn’t a Metrobus that was involved with the death of a man earlier this afternoon. Police are still investigating how the still unidentified man ended up on the tracks at the Columbia Heights metro station, in the path of an incoming Yellow Line train. The WaPo has limited details so far.

It would be easy to throw our collective hands up in the air regarding safety in our public transportation system after the string of WMATA-related deaths lately. But in this case, we’ll have to wait for the results of the investigation, since there could obviously be any number of reasons not related to Metro that this man ended up on the tracks. For now, you can be sure to expect delays on the Green Line during rush hour, where trains are sharing a single track (WMATA says it’s trying to put together some shuttle service quickly). More later.
