>> Spoil your senses at Night #2 of the current WPAC Experimental Media Series. Curated by Brandon Morse, whose own work we’ve recommended again and again, the one-night exhibition will include video and audio works by a slew of talented newcomers. And though this series is part of ColorField.remix, if we’ve got Morse pegged correctly this will be a kick in the pants to the usual staid, stripe-y paintings you may associate with the movement. Stop by the Armand Hammer Auditorium at the Corcoran Gallery of Art between 7 and 9 to see for yourself.
>> Science geeks, take note. Pulitzer-winning science writer Natalie Angier, author of The Canon: A Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science, will be at Politics and Prose at 7 p.m. to remind you just how much you’ve forgotten from your AP Bio class. Free.
>> If the prices or the long drive in traffic have you feeling unsure about heading out to the Capital Jazz Fest tonight, why not check out one of our other jazz picks, featuring young D.C. guitarist Ravi Joseph at Twins Jazz. Joseph, winner of the 2006 Keter Betts Memorial Jazz Scholarship and a student at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, plays with bassist Joshua Bayer and drummer Greg Holloway tonight. Visit the club’s web site for more information. Tickets are no longer available online, so call 202-234-0072.
>> Stamen & Pistils are hosting a CD release party tonight at Black Cat’s backstage, with support from area music heavies Carol Bui and Mikal Evans. 9 p.m., $8.
