Good morning, Washington. You know, it didn’t seem like that much of a storm. But apparently last night’s brief thunder and lightning wrought more than their fair share of havoc: lightning struck a shopping center in Maryland, badly damaging it. In fact, WJLA had footage of the shopping center’s laundromat last night — it had been completely obliterated. We had no idea! Still, it at least appears that the power system wasn’t too badly affected: WTOP reports that D.C., Maryland and Virginia had around 1800, 2000 and 1100 inconvenienced customers, respectively.

Va. Primaries Results Are In: The Post has the details. Amid “dismal” turnout, the state’s conservative Republicans mostly triumphed over their more moderate counterparts. As the article points out, this will likely establish a particularly contentious fall election season.

New Objections To ICC: Not to be uncaring toward the environment, but we sort of thought this was behind us. Not so! says NBC4. The Sierra Club and Environmental Defense have registered complaints with DOT asking the agency to cancel the project. They say that it would violate newly-added provisions of the Clean Air Act. The groups filed a lawsuit last year attempting to halt the ICC over air quality issues, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
