>> Canada’s post-punk four piece Uncut just released their latest album Modern Currencies in the U.S. on July 17th and will be at DC9 tonight with special guest Patrick Krief of The Dears. Just like their name says, they are raw: loud, bold, and off the wall. Check out the stopmotion animated video for their recent single, “Darkhorse” which includes a fire bombing Ronald McDonald and an army of pissed off Care Bears. 8p.m., $8.

>> They claim to sound like “Herbie Hancock had a love child w/ John McLaughlin, while trippin with spider monkeys in Sri Lanka.” Their album Blueberry Cave was this year’s Independent Music Awards winner in the Winner of the Album- Jam category. As we mentioned last week, San Francisco’s Garaj Mahal is bringing their jazz-funk tonight to Blues Alley. 8p.m. and 10p.m., $20.

Tuesday

>> It’s a throwback to 90s grunge with Silverchair’s first full North American tour since 1999. The Australian alternative rockers who brought you “Tomorrow,” will be at 9:30 Club in support of their new album, Young Modern, with We Are The Fury. $20.

>> The New York Times said her “flamboyant guitar approach also connects it to the ornate, virtuosic traditions of progressive rock and heavy metal: genres that punk once aimed to vanquish.” Marnie Stern (pictured below), the girl who played this year’s SXSW with only her ipod backing her up, is now accompanied by an actually live band and will be at the Rock and Roll Hotel with openers Zulu Pearls. 9p.m., $10.
