A quick search reveals that Uncle Sam on Stilts Taking Abuse is on its way to becoming its own YouTube genre, but questions abound: is it funny for any Uncle Sam to look silly, or only ones on stilts? And why the prevalence of putting Sam on stilts in the first place? Google yields 1,660 results for “Uncle Sam on stilts” — surely some Uncle Sams would object to the artificial height increase deemed necessary by America’s parade planners. Isn’t Uncle Sam already tall enough as it is?
