>> The Washington Jewish Film Festival kicks off tonight with the local premiere of Brazil’s official Academy Award submission, The Year My Parents Went on Vacation, director Cao Hamburger’s coming of age story set during a crackdown by Brazil’s military dictatorship in 1970. The 7 p.m. premiere is sold-out, but the festival promises a number of first-come, first-serve tickets if you’re willing to show up early and wait for them. At the DCJCC’s Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater, $20.
>> Alexandria sportswriter Michael Arkush will be at Olsson’s in Dupont Circle to read from The Fight of the Century, the historic boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden in 1971. 7 p.m.
