If you’re heading out of the office to hop on the Green line at this very moment, may we suggest a bus? An unidentified man was struck by a train at 4:40 p.m. at the Fort Totten station and Metro put out the word to expect major delays. From WMATA:
(Green line) trains are single-tracking through the area, taking turns headed in both directions between West Hyattsville and Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail stations. Shuttle buses have also been requested to help passengers get around the incident. The wait for the free shuttles buses is likely to be long because a bus can only carry up to 60 passengers and a six-car train can carry closer to 800 passengers.
Customers who can use the Red Line to get around the situation by transferring at Gallery Place-Chinatown Metrorail station or at the Fort Totten Metrorail station are encouraged to do so.
The man was struck by a six-car train. He is being treated by emergency medical personnel and will be taken to an area hospital. All six cars of the train are in the tunnel, as the train stopped shy of the station platform at the time of the incident.
