>> Artomatic continues this week. Join them tonight for an art collecting discussion sponsored by Pink Line at 7 p.m., or on Friday for Meet the Artists Night, from 7 to 10 p.m., or perhaps feel more at home during Blogger’s Night in the 12th floor lounge on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. Read through the other hundred or so events going on this weekend on Artomatic’s calendar. And don’t forget to check out the winners of the Sunday Source’s annual Peeps Diorama Contest on the 10th floor.

>> Head over to Mt. Ranier for Gateway Arts District Open Studios, including, among others, the Washington Glass School and Red Dirt Studios. Check out our studio visit with Michael Janis of WGS and some more info on the event later today. Saturday, 12 to 5 p.m.

>> This weekend get the inside scoop at Mid City Artists‘ Spring Open Studios. Over 40 artists will open up their workspaces for you to poke around in on Saturday and Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m. Get a map of each location at their web site, and we’ll have a preview for you tomorrow for this event, as well.

>> It’s 14th Street art night this Saturday. Start in the 1515 building at G Fine Art, where you’ll find Remake with works by Ivan Navarro and Courtney Smith. They rework materials into new objects, and the exhibit will feature an interactive installation, Chinese puzzle works, and a neon light piece about General Pinochet’s dictatorship in Chile. After you’ve taken all that in, step over to Adamson Gallery for a big group show with Pattern Recognition, where the artists use “abstract designs to produce meaning.” Over at Curator’s Office they’ll have a reception for the already open photographic exhibit Corpus by Jason Horowitz. Receptions for G Fine and Adamson run 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Curator’s Office is 6 to 8 p.m.

>> Afterwards, head over to Irvine Contemporary for a look at the work of James Marshall (a.k.a. Dalek), pictured above, another street artist who made his way into the galleries. Marshall’s highly graphic, brightly colored work in Overweight is perhaps the fusion of modern day graffiti art with old school color field work. Also check out the on-site painting created with Tim Conlon. See them at the reception, 6 to 8 p.m.
