FRIDAY:

>> Art Whino will feature the absorbing self-portrait work of Mary Spring in We Don’t Sleep Well, as well as the addition of four new artists to their permanent collection, with a party featuring music by Eighteenth Street Lounge’s DJ Tom B and a cash bar, from 6 p.m. to midnight at their new National Harbor space.

>> Don’t forget to consult our movie picks for the week, which includes a screening of The Graduates, the story of four friends who head down to Ocean City for Senior Week, at Arlington Cinema ‘n’ Drafthouse, 9:30 p.m., free, first come first served.

>> At Artomatic: Mavi / DC Tribal perform belly dancing and more tonight from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.; See Artomatic’s event calendar for more.

>> Young tenor saxophonist Brian Settles has been making a name for himself in the local jazz scene, performing regularly at Jojo’s and subbing for bandleader Thad Wilson on Mondays at Bohemian Caverns. Tonight and Saturday, he will lead his own group through 9 and 11 p.m. sets at the historic venue. Tickets are $15.

>> Black Cat hosts a Depeche Mode dance party starting at 9 p.m. $10.

SATURDAY:

>> Feel like more dancing? Will Eastman and BYT are hosting a blissful dance night at the 9:30 Club. In addition to Eastman, the DJ decks will also be helmed by the guys from Nouveau Riche. $20, 9 p.m.

>> The kid-friendly Rock-n-Romp heads to McGinty’s Pub in Silver Spring from 1-4:30 p.m. It’s a fund raiser for Spring Knolls Cooperative Early Learning Center, featuring XMC and Kid Goat.

>> Transformer gallery bounces back from their eviction last week by reopening Here & Now with a flurry of activities. Start at 1 p.m. at the gallery with installations by artists Mariah Johnson and Valerie Molnar, and an artist discussion at 3:30 p.m. Later head over to Comet Ping Pong (another venue no stranger to government shut-downs) where the Outlaw Art Party starts at 9:30 p.m., including a projection of all the Here & Now artists’ work.

>> Beer lovers, take note. The Maryland Brewer’s Spring Fest runs from noon to 8 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick. Tickets for adults are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Admission for Youth (ages 13-20) and Designated Drivers is $10 each and kids 12 and under are free.

SUNDAY:

>> We loved Headlights the last time they were in town. This weekend, catch them at the Black Cat‘s backstage with The Submarines. $10, 9 p.m.

>> Regina Spektor (pictured above) headlines a celebration of the 60th birthday of Israel on the National Mall, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. Noon to 5 p.m., free.

>> It’s the last day of the Shakespeare Free for All, featuring Hamlet, at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre. Get up to four free tickets beginning at noon at the box office, and get there early.
