Durval Martins

Durval Martins

It’s been five months since the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Durval Martins, who was killed at the corner of 11th and Q Streets NW as he walked home from Fox & Hounds on Dec. 16. Martins was shot multiple times in the head, nothing was stolen from him (including his wallet), and no suspect has been identified in the case.

In an effort to honor Martins and raise awareness about hate crimes against members of D.C.’s LGBT community, GLOV is holding a candlelight vigil and silent procession through Logan Circle tonight.

Details:

Tonight, Tuesday, May 19 from 7 – 8 p.m.

Meet at the Reeves Center Courtyard (Corner of 14th and U Streets NW).

After some introductory remarks, the procession will move south on 14th Street, east on Q Street, and end at 11th and Q Streets NW, followed by a moment of silence at the corner where Martins died.
