ART/SHOPPING: The D.C. area is packed with art markets galore this month. Tonight, we recommend heading to the first night of the Downtown Holiday Market, at 8th and F Streets NW (right outside the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery), which goes until 8 p.m. Then for your fine art fix, shuffle over to the Reyes and Davis gallery to see their new drawing exhibition featuring work Linn Meyers and Kate McGraw, among others, at their opening reception (6 – 9 p.m.). MUSIC: “Move Massive 09” is packing a lot of local show into one night at Falls Church’s State Theatre. Groups featured includeFuture, See-I and Poor Man’s Lobster as well as Akil of Jurassic 5 fame. Part of every ticket sale goes to the Wounded Warriors fund. $15 in advance/$17 at the door, 8 p.m.
Richard Buckner is headlining at Iota, and his opener, Anders Parker, is not to be missed. $14, 9 p.m.
JAZZ: Local trumpeter and Grammy nominee Michael Thomas leads his quintet on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $20 + $12 minimum/surcharge.
CLASSICAL: The St. Lawrence String Quartet will give a free concert tonight at the Library of Congress, featuring the Washington premiere of John Adams’s string quartet and the world premiere of a new string quartet by Ezequiel Viñao. 8 p.m.
