So much for waiting out this blizzard while browsing framed masterpieces in a tourist-free setting. According to a news blast on its website, all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo will be closed to the public today and tomorrow due to the weather. It’s the first time since 1996 that the Institution has closed all its museums in one fell swoop. We’re also told that the National Geographic Museum — including the popular Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit — is closed today. On the plus side, the large quantities of snow allows one to attempt a recreation of some of Calvin’s finest winter-weather pieces.
