>> The Smithsonian American Art Museum opens a sweeping exhibit this Friday, Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Remembering the Running Fence. See drawings and models made by the artists in preparation for the 24.5 mile long fence built in northern California in 1976, which ran all the way into the Pacific and existed just two weeks before the builders came back and removed it without a trace. The exhibition includes 240 photographs of the construction and the finished piece. On Friday, the museum will screen a new film commissioned for the exhibition, followed by a discussion with director Wolfram Hissen and artist Christo. Get a free ticket in the G Street lobby entrance starting at 6 p.m. The new film, along with the 1978 film by Albert and David Maysles that documented the project (which we’ll talk about more in tomorrow’s Popcorn & Candy film picks), will run regularly in the exhibit.

>> H&F Fine Arts in Mt. Rainier sent out a notice this weekend that they’ve closed their doors after three years. Owner Cheryl Fountain will open Fountain Framing in the same location.

>> Flashpoint Gallery, along with Solas Nua, will feature the paper, installation art and video work of Bart O’Reilly in Old Lines from the Luminous State. Opening Thursday Friday, 6 to 8 p.m.

>> Get a dose of local fashion next Wednesday, April 7, at Readysetdc’s fashion:district event, featuring a runway show, fashion photography exhibit, pop-up shops, DJs and more. The first copies of Worn Magazine will be available, a new fashion mag edited by Nicole Aguirre, supported by a 2010 Young Artist Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Tickets to the runway show have sold out, but you can still get tickets to the party at View 14 for $9.

>> Tonight see the annual Printmaking Portfolio exhibit by Corcoran College of Art + Design students at Civilian Art Projects. 6 to 9 p.m. Only on view through Saturday.
