A number of power outages could make commutes home Tuesday evening fairly dicey.
Pepco was reporting a pair of outages in Northwest D.C., one centered around Wisconsin Ave. and another closer to North Capitol Street. Over 3,000 customers are said to be affected. Pepco expects to have the power back on sometime this evening, and DDOT says that the traffic signals on North Capitol Street were back up and working as of 5 p.m.
And via WTOP, Northern Virginia is having more than its share of problems as well. A Dominion Virginia Power transformer failed in Woodbridge, and a power distribution line failed in Clarendon, causing smaller outages in Arlington and Fairfax counties.
Were folks turning on their air conditioners en masse today?
