Life doesn’t appear to be a stroll in a rose garden lately for accused White House crasher Carlos Allen.
On March 15, Allen, 39, posted a message on the website of his former party promotion and publishing outfit, HushGalleria, explaining that he had decided to “retire” from the company, effective immediately. His quixotic campaign for mayor has gone exactly nowhere thus far. And now it appears as though he’s in such a hurry to sell the former “HushGalleria Mansion,” a Mt. Pleasant rowhouse that Allen used to host gaudy invite-only parties, that he’s listed it at a fairly low price.
A listing on Trulia.com for the property, located at 3102 18th St. NW, reads as pretty desperate:
MOTIVATED SELLER! This Mt. Pleasant luxurious 5 bd/4.5 ba home will please the most demanding tastes. Old European elegance blended with the Classic Modern best describes this Manhattan styled home. Vaulted hardwood ceilings, NEW hardwood floors, 2 decks, in-law suite, etc. MAKE YOUR BEST OFFER.
The price, now at $879,000, has already been reduced $21,000 after spending less than a month on the market. The Zestimate for this property says the home could be worth as much as $1.4 million, though it also lists more bedrooms and baths than the house actually has.
Still, $879,000 seems like a decent price for such a large house in Mt. Pleasant. Just don’t forget to factor in the costs of removing all those mirrored walls.
