Estadio, a new Spanish restaurant from the owners of Proof, opens today at 1520 14th Street NW. The restaurant will serve a range of Spanish tapas and “slushitos,” which are essentially alcoholic slurpees. Much like Proof, there will interesting bathroom decorations; Estadio will carry on the glory of the World Cup on their ladies’ room wallpaper, featuring pictures of Spanish national team players.

Worth noting is how hard the Estadio crew worked to get this opening together. For those unfamiliar with the business of openings, it is extremely difficult to nail down an exact date in advance — and some restaurants can be delayed for months. Earlier this year, Estadio provided DCist with an estimate of July 12 — only ending up off by one day is definitely an impressive feat and worthy of congratulations.
