D.C. has become a popular place food TV shows and their personalities: there’s Top Chef D.C. (and our rundowns), former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn’s two restaurants, D.C. Cupcakes, Anthony Bourdain coming to town, jumbo slice on Food Wars, Iron Chef, and more. But it kind of makes you wonder: maybe there are just too many TV shows about food.

Overheard of the Week

At We The Pizza on Capitol Hill:

Two intern guys point at owner Spike Mendelsohn.

Intern 1: “Dude, that’s the guy from Hell’s Kitchen.”
Intern 2: “Sweet, was he the winner?”
Intern 1: “Yeah, I think last season.”
(people in line agreeing)
Random girl: “You guys are so cute, but wrong. He won the Next Food Network Star.”
(everyone in the immediate line nods in approval)
