According to reports, around 4 p.m., a bus was driven off the sky ramp of Interstate 270 in Montgomery County. The ramp is located where I-270 intersects with the Beltway. As many as 26 people were reportedly on the bus, and several remain trapped inside. The Post is reporting that one person has died as a result of the crash, while NBCWashington.com reports that there is one person pinned inside the bus. Rescue operations are currently underway, and I-270 is completely closed to vehicles in the area, which is usually a choke-point during afternoon rush hour anyway. Traffic is likely going to be backed up for some time — we would highly recommend seeking out alternate routes or giving it plenty of time before trying to drive through that section of the Beltway.
