MONDAY

Washington Capitals’ defenseman and faux-hawk aficionado Mike Green hosts the First Annual Greenlife Rock for Charity at the 9:30 Club featuring Philly’s G. Love and the Special Sauce and Billy Woodward and The Senders. 8 p.m., $50-500.

TUESDAY

A great local bill at the Cat‘s backstage with Railsplitter, three stars alum/recently announced Dismemberment Plan openers Tereu Tereu, and Invisible Hand. 8:30 p.m., $8.

>> Rock and Roll Hotel: S. Carey, White Hinterland. 8 p.m., $12.

WEDNESDAY

This week’s case study in cognitive dissonance is the “It Came Upon a Midnight Beer: Rock & Roll Christmas Show” featuring Jesse Malin & The St. Marks Social, Marah and Richard Bacchus — which is amusingly billed as a Toys for Tots event. Mixed messages? Maybe. But it’s heartening to know they’re drinking for the children. At Jammin’ Java. 8:30 p.m., $15.

THURSDAY

Charm City’s Pope of Filth, John Waters, brings his holiday show back to The Birchmere for what is sure to be a delightfully depraved evening in which Mr. Waters single-handily perverts every beloved story/religious practice of your childhood. 7:30 p.m., $45.

One of the buzziest bands of this year’s CMJ, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., will try to justify the hubbub alongside Ugly Purple Sweater. At The Red Palace. 9 p.m., $8.

>> Black Cat Backstage: River James, Deleted Scenes. 9 p.m., $10.
