Get ready for some prayer and go-go: the District of Columbia State Democratic Party has released the schedule for Vince Gray’s mayoral inauguration, which will take place on January 2, 2011. All events will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and are free and open to the public.

The Gray team has branded the day’s events with their “One City” campaign motif. Opening the day will be “One City…Praying Together,” an Ecumenical service which will run for approximately two hours. (Of course, for those of you planning on spending the Friday evening before the Inauguration committing a variety of sins, this might serve as a chance to atone.) Gray will then be sworn in as the city’s next mayor at 10 a.m.

But don’t let the religion and the political pomp fool you — the new executive will most certainly be getting down at the “One City…Celebrating Together” Inaugural Ball, an event where Gray will have countless chances to get his hand-dance on, as Chuck Brown and others take the stage. Tickets are required for the Ball, but are free — they’ll be available on December 22, 28, 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 145 at the Convention Center.

Sandwiched between all of that excitement, the city’s Councilmembers and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners will also be sworn in for their next terms.

A complete schedule of the day’s events is after the jump.
