We first told you about a new food truck, Sabor’a Street, during October’s Curbside Cookoff. The truck is nearly ready to go and awaiting inspection and licensing with plans to start ramping up service after Christmas.
If you’re around during the slow week between Christmas and New Year’s, you’ll get to sample what sounds like a tasty array of food from Chef Jorge Pimentel (formerly of CommonWealth, Masa 14 and Mark & Orlando’s).
The signature item appears to be the fritas — beef sliders with chorizo and Manchego cheese, topped with fried fingerling potatoes and a chipotle-guava sauce on brioche. For a devilish combination of three animals, you have the option to order them with a fried egg on top. For those with gluten-allergies, you’ll be able to order arepas — cornmeal cakes with a choice of adobo-marinated skirt steak, adobo-marinated pulled chicken or chili-glazed tofu.
If you’re merely feeling a little peckish, you can satisfy the itch with fried yucca and fried plantains with mojo, chimichurri, salsa verde (avocado and tomatillo), or roja (guajillo chili) dipping options. And right about now the fresh-fried churros with dulce de leche sound delicious (fingers crossed for a chocolate dipping option).
You can track their progress toward launch @Saborastreet, and check for rotating daily specials once they launch.
