Photo by Crosb.Morning Washington. After the last few days of glorious, spring-like weather, we’ve returned to a still seasonably warm 50s but with really strong winds. Those winds might gust up to 70 miles per hour, so while it looks sunny and inviting outside, just be warned that not all is as it seems.
>> The windy day already has Pepco on notice as there is a strong possibility some area residents will lose power due to downed power lines. Pepco will have extra crews to be on call should power go out in the region. Let’s just hope their response is better this time around.
>> A male pedestrian was struck by a freight train last night at 24th and Channing Streets NE at 10:30 p.m. The pedestrian was seriously injured, but no further word on his condition. There was also a fire four blocks away on Channing Street, but the two incidents appear to be unrelated.
>> A friendly reminder if you somehow missed it: there is serious track work on the Metro for the holiday (for some of you) weekend. A quick refresher: Federal Triangle and Smithsonian will be closed on the Orange/Blue lines, and there will be serious track work on the end of the Red line. There will be shuttle buses in between the closed stations, but taking those will add a significant amount of time to your trip.
