WJLA is reporting this morning that a tentative agreement has been reached between Washington Hospital Center and the union representing its nurses, a deal which could bring an end to one of the region’s longest-running labor disputes. The hospital’s approximately 1,700 nurses — who had planned strikes multiple times during the negotiations and were aiming to do so again soon — will vote on the agreement over the weekend.

The hospital recently announced that it will need to lay off some of its staff, but that move is not expected to affect nurse staffing levels.
