Good morning, D.C. Beautiful day out today, perfect for your last day on earth before the Rapture. If you see some people doing crazy things today, you must chalk it up to the fear they won’t be around tomorrow. Judgment is supposed to hit at 6 p.m. local so, see you guys at the bar. While it seems that the Rapture has been a bit of a bust so far, I think us Washingtonians have never turned down an excuse to day drink.

>> A police officer was shot early this morning on the 700 block of Crittenden Street, NE along with another victim (reportedly a teenager). The police officer was shot in the shoulder, but there is no further information about the extent of his or the other victim’s injuries. Police say they do have a suspect in custody.

>> Brittany Norwood, the woman accused of killing her coworker in a Bethesda Lululemon store, will start her murder trial in the fall. The trial is slated to start October 24, and could last for eight days.

>> Maybe Metro has given up caring if your fed up with weekend track work, and because of the Rapture has decided to go all out, because the only line that isn’t affected this weekend is the Yellow. On the Red line: trains are sharing tracks between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor-Strathmore and Takoma and Forest Glen. On the Orange and Blue: trains are sharing tracks between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery. And on the Green line: trains are sharing one track between Navy Yard and Anacostia.
