Good morning, Washington. Hope you’re enjoying your long weekend. For me, this will be the last time I wish you good morning, as I’m stepping down as weekend editor. You DCist commenters made it a good time, but as other things in life take priority (work is busy! hey, I’m getting hitched!) I’ve decided to stop doing this gig. You can always read me on my own blog, and you will be in capable hands with the new team. Now let’s get to the news.

>> Charles Brodsky, the chairman of the Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) resigned Friday, a year before his tenure expired. Vince Gray had said he had no intentions to reappoint Brodsky after his tenure expired. Board member Nicholas Alberti will be the interim chair until Gray selects a full-time replacement. In the past, Brodsky had been accused of conflicts of interest, but did not state a reason for his resignation.

>> There was a shooting early Saturday morning in Frederick, MD where a 43-year-old man was shot. The man is in a hospital and had surgery, but there is no further word on his condition. The police said the man likely knew his shooter, and the crime is under investigation.

>> Stafford firefighters had to get around an armed suspect to put out a fire Saturday afternoon. Firefighters had to evacuate the building until the suspect was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Department. Luckily, no one was injured.
