Neil Michael GodleskiOn August 22, 2010, Neil Michael Godleski was riding his bicycle through Sherman Circle when Eric Foreman, a 17-year-old who had in his possession a .38-caliber handgun that had been used less than 24 hours earlier in another gang-related shooting, allegedly shot him several times. Foreman was officially indicted yesterday on nine counts, including murder, robbery and firearm charges.
Police believe that Foreman fired multiple shots at Godleski as he rode his bicycle through the circle, then coldly approached the 31-year-old Catholic University student, firing two more shots at close range. According to police documents, Foreman told detectives that he had shot Godleski as part of an attempt to rob him; Godleski, who lived nearby on the 500 block of Ingraham Street NW, was apparently killed over sixty dollars.
Foreman, who was arrested in September, was charged as an adult and pled not guilty. His trial is scheduled to begin on Feburary 6, 2012, while a status hearing has been scheduled for September 9.
