Last night, the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) hosted the RAMMY Awards at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. The awards recognize local restaurants, restaurant staff and restaurant owners.

The big winners last night? “Power couple” Kyle Bailey (Birch & Barley) and Tiffany MacIssac (Neighborhood Restaurant Group) for their respective wins as Rising Culinary Star and Pastry Chef. And we were surprised to see that despite receiving the most nominations, Proof and Rasika did not make it up to the podium last night.

It’s interesting to look down the list and see that the majority of the winners are part of multi-restaurant groups — the exceptions being Tabard Inn and Taberna del Alabardero. Is it a reflection of the growth in D.C. restaurants or the nature of the membership of the RAMW?

Regardless, congratulations to the winners, who are nonetheless deserving of being honored:
