It’s no secret that Prince George’s County has been one of the hardest hit areas of the country during the foreclosure crisis — according to recent reports, more than half of all the housing sales in the county so far this year have been foreclosure-based, a trend which flies in the face of statistics showing a strong market in nearly every other portion of the Washington area.

But check out this map, courtesy the Wall Street Journal, which vividly depicts the struggles of the Prince George’s County housing market compared to the rest of inside-the-Beltway Washington:

It’s as if someone just drew a line north up the Potomac, hung a right onto the District line, then just kept going until they hit the county line between Prince George’s and Montgomery.
