Have you used the Washington Post’s website to look for a job in the District? If so, don’t be shocked if you get some extra spam over the next few weeks. According to a notice sent to users, hackers recently tapped into the Washington Post and obtained user IDs and email addresses of those with accounts with the newspaper’s online jobs service.

The attacks occurred on June 27 and 28 and affected “roughly 1.27 million user IDs and e-mail addresses,” the Post said. No passwords or personal information was compromised, though — so if you use the site, you shouldn’t need to take any immediate action. But the Post does admit that users “may receive some unsolicited e-mail (spam) as a result of this incident.”

Just remember: that email about wire transfers from Nigeria isn’t actually an offer for gainful employment.
