Photo by philliefan99Thunder Burger chef Ryan Fichter is a serious predator.
Fichter launched a “Wild Wednesdays” promotion at the Georgetown eatery last week that features exotic animal meat, kicking off with alligator ribs and planning for more adventurous mid-week treats including rattlesnake, boar, alligator, antelope, turtle, and llama. Fichter may also serve lion, which has Jeffrey Flocken, D.C. office director for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, vexed.
In a statement, Flocken said, “We hope that Thunder Burger and Bar will reconsider their decision to include lion on future menus. This iconic species is truly in danger. Lions need to remain in the wild, not on our plates.”
